The
security fencing went up around the New Canteen site late last week and
the builders have been on site raising pavers and digging trenches and
laying cables for the foundations this week. At this stage the
foundations will be poured over this coming weekend to limit the
disruption to the school with trucks coming and going. |

Competing in the National Championships in Canberra, Georgia Sleep covered herself in glory by coming 3rd in the Under 14 400 metre Australian Cup. This is an exceptional result for her to achieve particularly since it has been a number of years since a South Australian has even achieved a place in this event. |

Official
Opening of our Library Unfortunately the inclement weather which incorporated gale force winds and dust storms resulted in us having our Official Opening in the gymnasium yesterday. However we were pleased to have many members of the school and general community come along to join with us to hear Mr Des Whitmarsh give a brief history of the Community Library, followed by a message from the Federal Minister of Education MS Julia GIllard read by Ms Meralyn Stevens. We were then fortunate to have the Mayor of Ceduna Mr Alan Suter officially open the new Community School Library and the newly redeveloped grounds. It was pleasing to have former Principal Ms Flora Rumbelow, an instigator of this project, travel from Adelaide to join with us for the day. |

Congratulations
and well done to all who participated in our recent involvement in the
Port Power Cup held at Alberton Oval. We competed against several other
indigenous schools in a girls and boys 9 a side competition. By all
accounts our students not only were great participants they also were
excellent ambassadors for our school. So good were they that they had the
opportunity to play against Para West Adult campus in the curtain raiser
to the Port Adelaide AFL match last Friday night and did exceptionally
well. Thankyou to Mr Sam Bourke, Sandy Ware, James Peel, Nicky Milpuddie,
Peter Miller, Lindsay Holness and Conrad Newchurch who went along and
helped coach and organise to make the trip the tremendous success it was.
Very well done to all. |
