Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational education and training (VET) has always had a place in the SACE at Ceduna Area School. A significant proportion of students who gain the SACE include some form of VET in their studies.

Students are now able to study their entire SACE with a VET focus and can gain a nationally accredited qualification while still at school, graduating with a VET certificate in one of many industry groups.

VET (Vocational Education and Training) has become a focus within our school through the establishment of our new Trade Training Centre in Aquaculture. Students undertake competencies in the Certificate 2 in Aquaculture including OH&S, Communication, Feed Stock, Handle Stock and Water Quality.

We have also seen the development of the VET program Headspace where students undertake Customer Contact, Community Service and a range of other job ready skills through hairdressing and personal development. Doorways to Construction continues to be offered at the school where the students gain hands on experience in the building trade and complete the Certificate 1 in General Construction in Year 11, with the opportunity to do the Certificate 2 in year 12.
